Intrusive Thoughts

This day started the same as any other day; I wake up at 4:30, go for a run, eat breakfast, take a shower, get dressed, brush my teeth, and I’m out the door on my way to school. Personally, I don’t have friends at school, keeping to myself for certain reasons. Going through all my classes, sitting in the back careful not to draw attention to myself.

As the teacher begins the lesson, I tune out and start drawing on my paper until the door opens and in wafts an enticing smell like a bee drawn to pollen I dart my eyes towards the source. There stood a tall boy, jet black hair and bright jade eyes. His style shows he doesn’t want attention wearing mostly black clothes with splashes of color on his shirt. I notice the only seat left happens to be next to me, I dread him having to sit by me. Can I control myself?

As the tallboy walks up to the desk next to me he sits in a manner of relaxation like he has no care in the world. I turn my head slowly and look at his face, noticing small things like the mole next to his left eye and the slight twitches his mouth does. I was so lost in his face that I didn’t notice he turned to me. He then exclaimed, “Hellooo, why are you staring at me!” Shaking me from my thoughts, flustered I turn my head back towards my paper. He pokes my shoulder and I nervously turn towards him. H-h-he smiles, the biggest smile I think I’ve ever witnessed. He says, “I’m Alex. Nice to meet you.” I apprehensively respond, “N-nice to meet you.” Alex says, “I just started here so obviously I don’t have friends, do you mind if I’m your friend?” “Sure” I answer reluctantly.

For the rest of the seventh period, he talks non stop telling me everything about himself. Ten minutes before class ends and we get to go home Alex asks me a question that reignited my internal war. “Can I go to your house, I don’t have a ride home yet?” Of course, I’m not gonna refuse him, that’s not cordial. “I guess,” I say sounding uninterested in the idea.

As we’re walking towards my house Alex chatters while I walk silently alongside him. I unlock my door inviting him in, letting him make himself at home. I tell him I’ll be right back I need to go grab something. Alex sits on the couch turns on the T.V and relaxes. I come back downstairs careful not to make a sound. Alex yells, “ Hey, I just realized I never got your name!” Right before he turns his head around I plunge a knife deep into his throat. As his head falls back I see a tear slide down his cheek and I whisper in his ear as the life leaves his body. “I am the abnormality that lives silently in everyone waiting to immolate its next victim.”
